San Francisco Suicide Prevention Needs Volunteers San Francisco Suicide Prevention could not exist without a dedicated group of 150 volunteers. Volunteers staff a number of functions at the agency from answering hotline calls, community outreach and administrative volunteers. Crisis Line Volunteer Are you a good listener? Caring? Supportive? Understanding? Do you need Supervision Hours for your graduate program? Do you want a real challenge? If you answered YES to any of the above questions, then San Francisco Suicide Prevention needs your help! As a Crisis Line Volunteer, you will be providing emotional support in a non-judgmental manner, empowering callers to look at options and make their own decisions, providing crisis management, and providing information and referrals when appropriate. New volunteers must commit to an extensive two-month training class before answering calls. The minimum volunteer commitment is 4-hours per week for an entire year. We need volunteers day and night, 365 days a year! AIDS/HIV Nightline Volunteer The Nightline provides emotional support for people with concerns about HIV.
